Classes

·        Understanding Values, Principles and Responsibility A comprehensive exploration of values and norms that lend to the progress or degeneration of the individual and the culture.

·        Critical Thinking Skills, Independent Thinking and Problem Solving Skills Participant will learn to analyze the thought process; exploration of possibilities and alternative actions through role playing

·        Legacy Participants will research & write about historical occurrences and people of African/Hispanic heritage; defining your personal lecacy. 

·        The Body as a Temple This area focuses on the physical health of the individual & what is necessary to keep it in optimum condition. Healthy eating habits; positive body image.

·        The New You - Self-Knowledge & Self-Worth Participants will learn who they are, who they can become, how they can excel in life.  Self-esteem and self-worth are explored.

·        Sex and Sexuality Dysfunctional attitudes and behaviors about sex are explored; STDs, functions of the human body, and much more.

·        Social/Civil Responsibility: Class explores community activism and community building

·        Communication Skills Understanding common themes and universal ideas; learning to communicate thoughts, feelings, ideas, opinions, tastes, preferences, values and beliefs.

·        Relationship Skills forming friendships, alliances, & negotiating the world of cliques and social hierarchies; learning to listen to, understand, respect, and follow authorities as well as undertake leadership roles.

·        Community Responsibility: Learning to be a thoughtful and informed citizen; exploring what is to be a responsible home owner, neighbor and community member.

·        Self Discovery through Creativity; Art and creativity will be used to assist the participant in finding her inner voice.  The light and shadow sides of archetypes will be explored.

·        School as an Enriching Experience The school experience can be fun, exciting, interesting as well as educational.  You hold the key.  This class will help you unlock the door to an enriching school experience.

·        Career Paths I & II An exploration of careers, traditional and non-traditional occupations; explores what it takes to get into college and options in trade schools.

·        African/Aztec Dance

Registration fee $25.00

For families with more than one daughter, $15 per child registration fee
